Meet the Voices of Reason! Members of our Youth Development Committee have recorded these podcasts for Forsyth County parents to equip them with the facts about marijuana and synthetic marijuana.
Our Voices of Reason:
Matt Meyer: Matt Meyer moved to north Georgia with his wife in 2007. Matt has been in long term recovery since 1998. Due to his own experience with addiction beginning recovery at age 19 he has dedicated his life to working with young people that struggle with drug and alcohol abuse. Matt has helped hundreds of families over the years begin the recovery process. Throughout Matt’s career as a drug abuse counselor he has shared his experience with schools, churches and communities. Currently Matt is the Program Director for the Insight Program in Roswell and Peachtree City. Matt and his wife Jessica have 2 children and live in the Cumming area.
Catherine Rosborough: Catherine Rosborough is the Executive Director of the Connection, Forsyth County’s Recovery Community Organization. As a person in long-term recovery and a mother, she offers insight to parents raising their children in our community.
Ryan Stringfeild: Ryan Stringfield, Executive Director of Pathways2Life , a model to invest in communities, families and individuals to educate, engage and equip youth using proven process of prevention, crisis intervention and support. Ryan devotes his time going into schools and churches to speak with the youth to help prevent the crisis of addiction that is taking over our young people today.
Victoria Ray: Victoria Ray, person in long-term recovery and host of the Recover Girl Podcast, is an experienced substance use prevention and recovery speaker. She is the founder of Re:vive, a youth speakers committee within the Forsyth County Drug Awareness Council, as well as a founder of the Empower Speaker Network for the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse. She is a Certified Addiction and Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) and was chosen as one of the faces for the #GARecovers Campaign that was launched across the state. Victoria shares her story of hope to encourage other young people to embrace their own story and recover from whatever threatens to defeat them.
Mitch Durdle: Mitch Durdle, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for Gateway Academy, is a person in long-term recovery and mentor for youth in Forsyth County’s alternative school. He offers his experience and knowledge to the Forsyth County Drug Awareness Council from working with at-risk youth.
