A Youth Speakers Committee

“It’s time to re:write the narrative surrounding addiction, to re:spond with action to this crisis we face, and together, to re:cover our community. “

We are a committee of enthusiastic young adult speakers dedicated to empowering and educating youth from a peer to peer standpoint about the dangers of substance abuse, reality of recovery, and skills they can use to embrace prevention in their lives now.

In the wake of a drug epidemic that is shattering the lives of families and young people, we want to see a revival.

Topics we speak about:

    • Substance Abuse Prevention
    • Long-Term Recovery
    • The Science of Addiction and Recovery
    • Suicide Prevention
    • What family members of those struggling with addiction face
    • Overdose
    • Community and Connection
    • Hope

The results speak for themselves

  • Revive Speakers has spoken to over 2600 young people in Georgia, including those at South Forsyth High School, Gateway Academy, Pinecrest Academy, St. John Bosco Academy, Harmony Grove Baptist Church, and Transfiguration Church
  • 90% of young people who hear Revive speakers report that they are encouraged to live a drug-free lifestyle.
  • 90% report that they were made more aware of the dangers of substance use.
  • Students also report that they learned:
    • “There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”
    • “Substance abuse is very real and can happen to anyone.”
    • Drugs won’t fix anything in the long run, it will only worsen things.”
    • “The bottom is not the end, that you can come back from substance abuse.”
    • “There is hope, you are never alone.”
    • “It is okay to be vulnerable.”
